About Me
I’m a pharmacist on a mission to bring awareness to consumers about harmful ingredients hiding in their personal care, beauty, and cleaning products. I’m passionate about sharing ingredient information and empowering consumers to see through false “clean” claims and the greenwashing that’s prevalent in the marketplace. I’m pleased you’re tuning into this issue and paying attention to what companies are putting (or not putting) on their labels. You’re ahead of the game—most people still don’t know this is a serious problem!
I started down this path after losing my mother to cancer. My own loss inspired me to learn more about all that we’re exposed to. I feel strongly about sharing this awareness and leading people to better choices for themselves and their families.
Getting started can feel overwhelming at times. Take a deep breath and let me help you create your own “low tox” easy button. Together, we’ll take the stress out of the process and give you peace of mind.
My Story
For nearly 20 years, I have worked as a pharmacist, a career path originally driven by the desire to help others. In 2016, my world changed forever when my mother received a stage 4 cancer diagnosis completely out of left field.
Why did this happen? How did this happen?
I threw myself into researching, looking for as much information as I could find that could help me wrap my mind about what was happening. What I found shocked me. I learned that only 5–10% of cancers are genetic, meaning the vast majority of cancers are environmentally influenced. This statistic encouraged me to peel the onion even more, digging into the environmental issues that might have taken my mother from me.
What did she eat? What did she put on her body?
I was infuriated when I learned how unregulated the personal care products industry is. Most people still don’t realize that there are harmful ingredients hiding in the products we use EVERY DAY.
Prior to all this research, I, too, thought I was using safe products. I was completely deceived by “greenwashing,” the misleading marketing claims so many companies use that mislead consumers to think the products they are buying are safe, natural, clean, eco-friendly… but they actually contain harmful ingredients. The more I learned about this unregulated industry, the more I wanted to patronize a company exactly like Pure Haven.
There are so many things we cannot control in life, but taking control of what we put on and in our bodies is such an empowering step towards a healthier life.
